February 13 - Day 135

  1. This is a very profound picture. 13 for the 13th of February, when it was taken. We can see the 14 peeking around the edge, showing that a new day is coming. But then we see ten, and we wonder. What is the ten for? Ah, we must subtract it from each number, and we are left with 3 and 4. Add them together, and it becomes so clear. 7, a perfect number.

You may also notice that there are only three balls with numbers showing. Yes 3, another special number. Also, why a ball, but to show perfection?

I perceive all of these-the sphere, the 3, and the 7-are to counter act the unluckiness of the number 13. It is possible that poor Parker had problems playing pool, and proceeded to produce this picture to prevent more pressing predicaments.

  3. I beg to differ. For, it is clear, that you can also see another number. Is it a nine or a six? Either way, your analysis of the meaning is inaccurate. There is also another three visible to the side. This leaves us with a 13, a 14, a 10, a 3, and a 6 (or 9).

But all this analysis is irrelevant. Clearly, the focus of this picture is in the colors. How and why is it all dull and lifeless--except for the bright orange 13? It seems to be saying more about Parker's state of mind. Is he depressed? Or does he see hope amidst the grayness of his surroundings? If he does, his hope seems to be compromised, by the aforementioned unlucky, though cheerful, 13 ball.

And if that is so, why the focus on the ten? It is a bold number. Ten represents perfection: a perfect ten. Is this to counteract the unlucky 13? Or is it saying perfect unluckiness, meaning he is resigned to his fate?

This is such a work of art, there are many interpretations.
